January 25th

  In today's class, I was able to learn just how manipulative the British government is and how they have been lying and deceiving the UK's citizens only to protect their status as a country. We first covered basic knowledge about Scotland, and it was surprising to learn that Scotland owns 65~70% of the UK's whole sea area and that the UK heavily relies on massive imports from Scotland.

 Scotland could have been one of the richest countries worldwide if it were not for the UK using unjust methods to stop them from doing so all of these years. One of the examples given was about BBC, which is owned and controlled by the British government to always share information in their favor. For years, BBC had shown maps of the UK and Scotland but made the proportions of Scotland smaller in size to manipulate viewers into thinking that Scotland was small and therefore would not make to be a strong and powerful country. When these viewers saw the accurate map representing Scotland to its full size, many were quick to say that it was edited purposefully to make it look bigger, when in reality, they were just so familiarized with the fake map that had shown Scotland to be tiny all of these years. It was shocking to see how no one was skeptical of anything strange with the map for such a long time, and that they truly believed and had looked at Scotland to be small and weak, when admittedly they were the country that was weak.

    It was interesting to learn just how manipulative the government is with the information and the perception they want their citizens to strongly believe, but I was more surprised with how they had gotten away with such an obvious lie. I guess this shows how much the people in the UK want to believe that Scotland is nothing without them. From this, it is enough for me to say that just because someone top-tier or high-ranked says something, it is likely that it is anything but the truth. I feel like these kinds of people and organizations with power tend to use our lower status as an advantage and make their claims or beliefs seem more relevant/true. I thought as individuals, we need to learn to develop our own thought and beliefs based on what we hear/see/read, and not from what we are told to be true from a person of a higher status.

PR Photos (4/21/21)

In today's class, we first were told we had 7 minutes to take an appealing photo to promote our school. When doing so, there were various tactics to make the school's photos look professional or interesting to best attract new students. Prior to doing so, we were explained some bad examples of places to take pictures. First was an old building that used to actually be a pool, but the exterior made it look like an abandoned building with weeds and vines growing everywhere. Next, we were taken to look at the library. Personally, I think the inside of our library would be suitable for taking pictures, but then I could not say the same for the outside. The library has big windows, but with all of the blinds closed, you would not be able to tell that the inside is a library through a photo. The Mark Of Athena (Chap. 5-8)

Chapter 5 (Leo) The ship was badly damaged. Leo wished he could create a time machine to go back two hours and undo what had happened. What he had done. When explaining what had happened to Annabeth, he tells her that he couldn't control whatever had possessed him. It just felt like he was watching himself do things.
