(5/18/21)

Today, I learned about a system called the United Nations Security Council which consists of 15 countries, and every two years, ten of those countries are frequently changed, and the other five do not change. They are called the P5(permanent 5), and they were decided based on the aftermath of WW2, under two conditions, that they were the winners of WW2 as well as the first five countries to own nuclear weapons. The P5 all have a veto, which enables them to utilize it in anything the Security Council votes on, to prevent the execution of a certain idea. This system is nowhere near being democratic or fair, but the reality is that they are above the law. America is one of the countries included in the P5 and has used the veto to mainly protect Isreal, every time the Security Council wanted to stop Isreal and resolve the conflict with Palestine. 

We also learned that out of the 2 million people who inhabit Gaza, 50% are under 20 years old. This was shocking to me, and it came to my realization just how many people have died due to the frequent bombings. I also realized that the situation is similar to that of Japan's, with it just being reversed with more of the population being elderly than young. It was also disheartening to see a clip of a 10-year-old Palestinian girl questioning why they deserve such cruel treatment. Furthermore, it was alarming to learn about how Israel educates the young generation. The children were saying themselves that they want to kill Palestinians casually and wanting to make Arabs their own slaves. It was honestly mortifying how brainwashed we humans can become, and how much power education has regarding how individuals' cogitation develops or how they perceive the world around them. Israel's bombing intentions were cruel as well. They intentionally bombed a graveyard, because, for Muslims, graves are the connection of the dead and the living. This kind of behavior should not be acceptable, but no one can stop Israel because every time they do, America utilizes its veto in an unjust way. It made me realizes just how strong America is, and how not many countries can go against them since they hold so much power against us.

Summary of the 1st semester

This semester, I have learned so many new things from the things Mr. Paterson has taught us. He taught all semester long how not to be scared, but to be confident in yourself, and how we can learn to become the best presenter we can be. PR Photos (4/21/21)

In today's class, we first were told we had 7 minutes to take an appealing photo to promote our school. When doing so, there were various tactics to make the school's photos look professional or interesting to best attract new students. Prior to doing so, we were explained some bad examples of places to take pictures. First was an old building that used to actually be a pool, but the exterior made it look like an abandoned building with weeds and vines growing everywhere. Next, we were taken to look at the library. Personally, I think the inside of our library would be suitable for taking pictures, but then I could not say the same for the outside. The library has big windows, but with all of the blinds closed, you would not be able to tell that the inside is a library through a photo. The Mark Of Athena (Chap. 5-8)

Chapter 5 (Leo) The ship was badly damaged. Leo wished he could create a time machine to go back two hours and undo what had happened. What he had done. When explaining what had happened to Annabeth, he tells her that he couldn't control whatever had possessed him. It just felt like he was watching himself do things. Annabeth asked him if Octavian had tricked him, but Leo knew he clearly had done everything. As much as Octavian was a jerk, he wasn't the cause of it. He told Annabeth that he had felt a cold feeling, and with that, Annabeth almost seemed scared.  Annabeth was called down belowdecks from Percy, who was with Piper and caring for Jason.
