The Mark Of Athena (Chap. 2-4)

Chapter 2 (Annabeth)
Annabeth and her friends safely descend to the ground. Many demigods and entire families gathered to get a glimpse of them while clearing away a path for them to walk through. Annabeth could see an entire multigenerational community. She assumed they were all demigods, she just never expected to see this kind of place, most demigods at Camp Half Blood were teenagers. If they were able to survive long enough to graduate high school, they either stayed as counselors of left to start their own lives as best as they could.
In the distance, demigods made way for a girl in Roman armor decorated with medals. Jason had described her well, she was Reyna, the leader, and praetor of New Rome. Then, a familiar face also appeared from the crowd, and it was Percy. Both groups introduced one another and Reyna welcomes them to discuss everything that has happened.
Reyna gives out orders to the other centurions but gets interrupted by a guy named Octavian. He is a demigod of Apollo and Augar of Camp Jupiter. He is told by Reyna to burn an offering to thank the gods for bringing Jason and his friends safely here. He seems to despise them as well as Percy, and Annabeth feels uncomfortable around him. But there is no stepping back now. As they were all headed to the forum to have a discussion, she feels yet again a cool sensation on her neck. She heard subtle whispering laughter again, just like she had when she was aboard the ship. It just didn't seem right. Part of her wanted to abort Camp Jupiter right at this moment before something terrible would happen. She couldn't shake the feeling but convinced herself everything would indeed be fine and joined the others for a proper reunion.

Chapter 3 (Annabeth)
They all joined together in the forum and immediately started to exchange stories. Jason explained how he had arrived at Camp Half-Blood without his memory, and along with his new friends Leo and Piper, they went on a quest to free the goddess Hera(Juno). The giants had done this, and they strategically imprisoned her in the most sacred place of the Romans, the Wolf House so she would have surely been destroyed. If they hadn't saved her, the Romans would have blamed it on the Greeks, causing a war between the two camps. He goes further into how they discovered that the giants are awakening and along with Gaea are planning on destroying the gods.
During any quest, there is always a prophecy that foretells future events and in a way gives hints which lead you to succeed in the quest. Both camps already know the prophecy and it goes like so, "Seven half-bloods shall answer the call. To storm or fire the world must fall. An oath to keep with a final breath. And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death." Some parts of the prophecy are becoming clear throughout the discussion. The Romans and Greeks must combine forces to find the Doors of Death, and in the end, it is settled to the seven members being a mix of both camps. Herself along with Jason, Piper, Leo, Percy, and his friends Hazel and Frank.
Then, Tyson who is a friendly cyclops, along with a harpy named Ella, came in to greet them. Ella suddenly blurts out something that sounds to be a part of a prophecy, something that concerns Annabeth, but Percy, Frank, and Hazel frantically try and change the topic. To this, Octavian becomes suspicious but there was no way a harpy could foretell a major prophecy, so everyone laughed it off.
Octavian still does not trust her and her friends and says this isn't a ship of peace. Leo, who invented the ship invites him for a tour of the ship, and to this Reyna agrees with and sends them off. For a moment Leo and Annabeth'S eyes meet, and she sees a cruel light in his eyes. After blinking though, he looked normal with his usual impish grin and with that left. She felt slightly crazy and wasn't able to stop them. Jason and Piper left to explore the city, and Percy was going to with Annabeth as well, but Reyna stopped the two of them. Reyna wanted a word with Annabeth alone, and together they take a walk.

Chapter 4 (Annabeth)
Reyna and Annabeth take a stroll through the city of New Rome, and they talk one to one. Reyna tells her that she knows what Ella had said, is some sort of prophecy concerning her. Annabeth studies her and realizes they have met before. They met on the island of Circe when she and Percy were on a quest to save their friend who was imprisoned. Reyna says she wants to trust Annabeth and asks her to tell her about herself. With that, they start to understand each other, but Reyna warns her about her mother, Athena. When Reyna was imprisoned on Circe's island, she had many visitors come before Annabeth and Percy had come. He was a man and claimed to be a son of Athena, and he kept raving about a certain failed quest. He mumbled words about wisdom's child, the Mark of Athena, and they were the same lines Ella had recited before. Reyna has heard that this could be the reason why the Romans and Greeks could never get along.
Suddenly, they hear an explosion blasting a crater into the forum. The Argo II launched a second volley, and with that, Reyna and Annabeth ran down the hill. The city was in complete chaos. Octavian is seen frantically climbing down the ladder and tells them that Leo had fired on New Rome, and orders Romans to start killing them. Hazel and Frank take part in distracting the Romans, while Percy and Annabeth board the ship.  Sure enough, to her surprise, Leo was reloading the ballista, saying over and over "Destroy them...", but his eyes were glazed. Percy tackled him to the ground and knocked him out. Once Jason and Piper were dropped off by Frank, Annabeth ran for the helm and with that, the ship shot into the clouds.

Thoughts
I personally had a fun time reading these few chapters, they filled me up with anticipation and I was eager to read on. I was quite surprised about how Reyna and Annabeth knew each other, I did remember Annabeth and Percy's quest where they ended up on the island of Circe's, but even that was such a story from long ago that it really surprised me. I would have never suspected then that they would have ended up meeting together again in another series, so the idea was somehow exciting for me. I desperately want to know why in the world Leo would do such a thing, he as a character is very childish and always the one making jokes, but he has the sweetest heart. I really liked how certain things connected, and I want to keep reading to find out what happens next.

Summary of the 1st semester

This semester, I have learned so many new things from the things Mr. Paterson has taught us. He taught all semester long how not to be scared, but to be confident in yourself, and how we can learn to become the best presenter we can be. He also introduced many of us to new useful apps, and how we can incorporate technology into our studies for the better. First, he taught us how important and useful technology is these days.At TGUISS, we first and second graders are not allowed to use our phones inside the school campus. Mr. Paterson was the first teacher and class to let us use the technology we have access to, and this let us experience and explore new things about technology that Japanese schools had been hiding for a long time. We finally got to organize everything based off of Google, and got to see how convenient everything around us was getting. Finally, he taught us how to become more confident with yourself. This is one of the reasons why he’s so passionate about giving a pr...

PR Photos (4/21/21)

In today's class, we first were told we had 7 minutes to take an appealing photo to promote our school. When doing so, there were various tactics to make the school's photos look professional or interesting to best attract new students. Prior to doing so, we were explained some bad examples of places to take pictures. First was an old building that used to actually be a pool, but the exterior made it look like an abandoned building with weeds and vines growing everywhere. Next, we were taken to look at the library. Personally, I think the inside of our library would be suitable for taking pictures, but then I could not say the same for the outside. The library has big windows, but with all of the blinds closed, you would not be able to tell that the inside is a library through a photo. I decided to take a picture at a high angle of the west building, including the blue sky so it would look more appealing. Others were taking photos of the school entrance or trying to include asp...

The Mark Of Athena (Chap. 5-8)

Chapter 5 (Leo) The ship was badly damaged. Leo wished he could create a time machine to go back two hours and undo what had happened. What he had done. When explaining what had happened to Annabeth, he tells her that he couldn't control whatever had possessed him. It just felt like he was watching himself do things. Annabeth asked him if Octavian had tricked him, but Leo knew he clearly had done everything. As much as Octavian was a jerk, he wasn't the cause of it. He told Annabeth that he had felt a cold feeling, and with that, Annabeth almost seemed scared.  Annabeth was called down belowdecks from Percy, who was with Piper and caring for Jason. He had gotten a cut on the head which looked pretty bad, he just hoped his friend was okay. Annabeth asks Frank to watch over Leo, and Leo decides to let him meet Festus. They reached the bow of the ship, and the figurehead turned to greet them. Festus was once a full bronze electronic dragon, but due to some accidents, Leo had ...
